Chinese Brush Painting Workshop

In this workshop, students will learn to use brush, ink and watercolors, and the authentic Chinese style to paint traditional Chinese Painting subjects, such as bamboo, birds & flowers, etc. You will experience how the different shades of black ink mixed with colors can create the magic harmony of yin and yang, tranquility and wonder. Participants will enjoy the spontaneity, simplicity and creativity of the medium and its deep philosophical meaning.

Painting materials: All painting materials (brushes, ink, rice papers, paints, and felt) will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own above materials. In addition, please bring the following items: following items:
1. cups or containers for water for painting and palette (white color plate is fine).
2. some newsprint or drawing papers for doing practice.

Celebrating Culture, Character
and Confucius




February 21 to September 7, 2015

Take a trip to China – no passport required! Opening this February, Children's China transports visitors halfway across the globe to experience what life is like for children in China today – a country where timeless traditions endure amidst a modern lifestyle.

Ping Yan were invited as an aritsit for painting a serial of commitioned Chinese brush artworks for the exhibiton.
Experience six engaging and immersive settings that bring Chinese culture to life! Visitors will care for pandas in the panda reserve, participate in a Chinese New Year celebration with a Chinese dragon, explore a contemporary classroom, restaurant, park and more within this one-of-a-kind exhibit. Children's China integrates the time-honored teachings of Confucius, China's great teacher, with a focus on the importance of education and family values.

Created by The Magic House in partnership with the Confucius Institute at Webster University and Character Plus, Children's China is a nationally traveling exhibit designed to increase understanding of the Chinese culture. Plan your trip to China at The Magic House today!
